In the middle of the sixteenth and seventeenth century, Busby, a man lived in northern Yorkshire was running an inn in his hometown.

The name of his inn was busby's stoop inn. His family members are his wife and his father-in-law. The name of his father-in-law was awety. He has a farm of his own.

Both Busby and awety were business partners. They are doing the business of crime detection for which they have an enterprise in awety's hometown. Busby and awety were not in a good relationship and sometimes their arguments transform into a big quarrel.

His wife's name was Elizabeth and she was the only daughter of awety. Awety named his farmhouse as danotty Hall. Some people who lived in the 1600s stated that Busby was a drunkard and sometimes people found him on forest fields as drunken and lying on the fields. There is a statement that Busby and safety have been doing illegal business of coining inside the danotty Hall.

On a normal day, Busby and Awety started a quarrel with regarding their business. After that day, Busby was very upset and drank a lot.

Busby had an old oak chair on which he spent his whole day. He likes it a lot than anything.
When Busby came to his inn, he saw that awety was sitting on his chair. He got hyper tensed as he was already drunken. He hits awety hard and throws him outside from his inn.

On the very next day, Busby went to danotty Hall with his hammer and killed Awety with his hammer.

Everyone nearer to awety's house started to state that Busby was the reason for his murder. So, the police started investigating Busby about awety's murder. Finally, Busby confessed his crime.

So the court ordered that he will be gibbeted.

There are two variants of his death. One is that Busby was arrested while he was drinking his beverage by sitting on his chair and while he got arrested, he cursed that anyone who sits on his chair will be dead soon. Another variant is that he cursed his chair before he was going to get executed. These are the horrible things that happened.

After Busby's death:

After his death, many horrible incidents occurred in the course of the time. Also, the chair was bought by a museum called Thirsk in Yorkshire.

After the chair's shift to that museum, there were some horrible incidents that took place. But the noticeable one is that the chair was hung upside down from the ground and some people said that they saw its posture and got shocked. Many people said that the chair was occupied by the spirit of Busby and he didn't want anyone to sit on his chair and because of that he lifts it upside down as a gesture of his disagreement.

There were some authentic incidents that took place which is believed to be true. There is another talk that his spirit occupied his pub and some other places near to it.

Due to the museum's reconstruction work, The chair was placed in the museum's basement. But there were also some eerie events happened.

So, the museum has fitted the chair with bolts in a high position so that no one can try to sit on it.

The first filed death, in this case, was a sweeper where he and his friend went to Busby's Inn to clean it. They have also been drunk when they went there.

The sweeper doesn't know about the chair and sat on it. After his friend warned about the chair, he stood up. The very next day, it was found that the sweeper was dead and that he didn't go home that night and lied dead on the road which is behind Busby's gibbeted place.

There were also some haunted incidents that happened after this. Some people leave it as a coincidence, but some people believe that all these events are happened because of Busby's curse and will continue further,  they stated.
