Savant syndrome is described as physical and mental disabilities among people. It is cited as one of the rarest disorder on this planet earth.

A person with this disorder may be skilled in a certain task or even multitalented. The people who are having this disorder are considered as a prodigy. The brain of the person with this syndrome functions in hyper active mode.

People with this syndrome would have high memory skills and accuracy. A person affected by this syndrome would be quite good in art, music and in rapid calculation. 

The Savant syndrome is also known as Idiot Savant and autistic Savant. This name was coined by John Langdon down in 1887.

An interesting fact about Savant syndrome is that "In this entire world, only about 100-200 people got affected by it. Also, this savant syndrome could conquer just one among millions of people. 
A survey about this syndrome points out that the ratio of men who are affected by this syndrome is more than that of women.

Another interesting thing is that the persons affected by this syndrome may be born with it or 
influenced by it while growing. 

The person with this syndrome would  have neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum. 

There is a fact that Savant syndrome influences a person in five major areas. Those were art, memory, spatial skills, musical skills and finally arithmetic skills. 

The person's with this disorder have an accuracy of 98% only in their specialized field or fields. One with this syndrome could have the ability of doing mind calculations like predicting the day of a date accurately. There is an approximation that half of the people affected by savant syndrome are autistic. 

Till now there is not a proper explanation for this ability. Also, there is no medication discovered yet to get rid from this disorder.

From the records, there are some savant syndrome people in this world. But, the most notable one is Kim peek.

Kim peek is one of the most notable person who have been recognized with this Savant syndrome. If you have seen the movie " Rain man" , there is  a fictional character called "Raymond Babbitt". It  was inspired and filmed as a fictional mimic of the real life person Kim peek. 

The extradinary talent of him was that he could read two pages of a book simultaneously. In fact, he will answer accurately if you ask him any questions from those pages.

Till now he had read a pile of 12,000 books in his lifetime. He is such a super talented person. He died at the age of 58 on December 19, 2009.
